Long weekend, read it, think it, do it.

My computer is acting quite strange this morning. Freezing, blinking, teasing me with the control it has, whether or not to destroy my thoughts on an electrical whim. Not gonna happen, PC, just let it go, put the connection down, hand it over, we can work this out. Alright, I think that did something there. Oh, the power of communication.

I had another nice, relaxing weekend. You wanna hear about it? Hmm? Because if you keep reading, Im gonna tell you. I assume youve made your decision. Great, here we go

Friday night, I picked my father up at the airport. Three weeks since Ive seen him, he was exhausted after three weeks of overtime, nonstop work, a stressful project hes on. We went to a nice restaurant in Little Italy, I can never remember its name, but they have the best rigatoni & broccoli dish. We laughed, we caught up, and he shared stories of his trip with me. Hes not in town for very long, a few days, then gone for a week, back for a day or so, then gone for another long stint. Its nice to have him around, though I must say, I havent seen him much in the last few days, as Ive been oot and aboot (said like a true Canadian Comedian, neither of which am I).

Saturday was eventful, went to Earth Dance, which was lovely, music and friends, hippies and smiles, good vibes and familiar faces, faces I havent seen in awhile. I think its quite amusing how some of those faces are so adroit at avoiding mine (only a select few, but though there are awkward moments when that rare person in the world who dislikes me two-steps around me, its probably better that way. I hate to smile when it doesnt reach my eyes, unlike most people, who seek solace in the insincere grin, it just hurts my face). For the most part (about 98%), I saw people I love, people I cant wait to see again, and got to introduce fresh blood into the mix, always a thrill.

After Earth Dance, Indian food and the movie Secretary. Great movie, by the way, read the New York Times review of it, that best coincides with my thoughts, as I knew it would before I even saw it. The rest of Saturday night, and actually all of Sunday (naughty, naughty escapist Barbarella), I hid with pleasure at the Zone. Phone off, I effectively avoided (unbeknownst to me at first) an all-out drama-fest with my family. Thank God for dead batteries (and I do believe thats the FIRST time Ive EVER said THAT). Simply relaxing, simply wonderful, simply delightful. Sunday night, after showering and saying howdy to Dad, back out I went, to meet a few local lifestylers and try out a new local restaurant, Arrivedercis new location on Fourth & Robinson. Yummy. By the way, when I turned my phone back on, 20 messages total for the day, half of them from the dramatic-family-must-find-Barb-mission mission failed, and later aborted, and I am free.

Monday (day off, remember??), and thank God for Zim. Wonderful lunch with my fabulous friend, and then the godsend escorted me all over town, helping me take care of my Barbmobile. Two new tires, oil change, super-deluxe wash, alignment, fuck, I am a new woman behind my Bling Bling wheel! I dont remember the last time my car was this clean or felt this good on the road. Perfect for my drive to LA this Saturday, Im ready to go! And last night, to top off a nice and mellow weekend, dinner and a movie, Dr. Strangelove, yes boys, Ive finally seen it!

New purchase - Up by Peter Gabriel. GET IT. WOW. Particularly, track 2, track 4, and track 8. Get it.

New worry if you believe in all that energy, healing focus hocus pocus, please direct it my mothers way. Today, an appointment to make another appointment, and we all pray, in our own little way, that these symptoms are not what we think, which of course, with our little human minds, is always the worst. Thank you.
